Mint Peplum Top and Liquid Leggings: A Plus Size Outfit of the Day

How pretty is this mint peplum top with lace? When I tried it on at the Shimmer fitting room it was instant love. And what about the liquid leggings? I WAS not a fan of leggings at all. I have a pair that I've never worn, but I've always wanted a pair of liquid or "leather" type leggings; however, I've never found an affordable pair. I have to thank Shimmer for providing these leggings for review, they made my day! The top is available in three colors (mint, coral, and tan) and of course, I needed the mint one.

Apoco no esta padrisima esta blusa con encaje color menta en peplum. Cuando me la prove en la tienda de Shimmer me enamore! Y que opinan de los leggings líquidos? Yo no ERA fan de leggings para nada. Tengo un par que aun no uso; sin embargo, siempre había querido unos de tipo piel o de estos "líquidos" pero no había encontrado unos que fueran económicos. For many plus-size women adding colorful pieces to our outfits may seem challenging. We constantly  fear non-neutral and bright colors because we have been made to believe that bright colors over-emphasize "problem" areas. While it is true that black can act as a "camouflage," we can still incorporate bright colors into our wardrobe.

In this case, I used this polka dots top from Target; I added a teal blazer, and finished my outfit with these red bottoms from Torrid. For many of us, leaving black completely can be hard, but remember that you can play around with your pieces to make other colors the focal point of your outfits.

By the way, this outfit will look 100 times better with heels, but I simply wanted to be comfortable that day!

Para muchas chicas agregar color a su guardarropa puede parecer todo un desafío. Por lo general le tememos a los colores vibrantes que no sean neutrales. Por años nos han hecho creer que los colores claros sobre enfatizan nuestras áreas "problemáticas." Aunque es verdad que el color negro puede camuflajear muchas de esas áreas, aun así podemos y debemos incorporar color a nuestro guardarropa.

En el caso del atuendo de hoy, use esta blusa de lunares que compre en Target (la cual aun esta disponible en varias tiendas), le agregue esta blazer de color verde-azulado y termine el atuendo con un pantalon rojo. Recuerden que aunque no podamos dejar el negro por completo, aun así podemos jugar con nuestras piezas para no hacer del negro el color principal de cada atuendo.

Por cierto, este atuendo se miraria mil veces mejor con zapatillas pero la verdad, no tenia ganas de usarlas, quería estar cómoda jejeje.

Shimmer es una tienda local que recientemente también abrió su tienda en linea. Antes de continuar les cuento que HACEN ENVIOS A TODO EL MUNDO! Muchas de ustedes me han comentado que no tienen acceso a este tipo de ropa allá en Mexico, así que espero que esta información les sirva. Sus tallas "normales"van desde talla chica (Small) a grande (Large) y sus tallas grandes van de talla 1X a 3X. Toda su ropa es considerada para jóvenes así que vienen un poco mas chicas que las tallas "normales." Todo lo que me medí fue en la talla 3x. 

Hoy me medio fui de shopping. Digo que me "medio fui" por que se me olvido mi tarjeta del banco jeje  Así que iba muy limitada, pero de cualquier manera les queria compartir mas sobre las prendas que esta tienda tiene disponible. Spiked Top

This top is very simple, but what makes it unique are the spikes that it has on the shoulders.

Esta blusa es super sencilla pero lo que la hace especial son los picos que tiene en el ombro. 

Trendy Colors 

 I really this top. I liked that it was mint, that it had a "pearl" detail, and most of all the "denim" contrast.

Esta blusa me gusto mucho. Me gusto que era color menta, que tenia un detalle de "perlas," y adore el contraste con mezcalina en el cuello y donde van los botones. 

One of the things that I love about Shimmer is that most of their pieces have small details (like the rhinestones on this top) that make the items different. I really liked the color and details of this top; however, I didn't like that it was shorter in the front (at least that was how it fit me hehe).

Una de las cosas que me gusta de muchas de las prendas de esta tienda es que tienen pequeños detalles que las hacen diferentes. Esta blusa me gusto en general, pero como que no me encanto. Creo que fue el hecho de que era mas corta de enfrente. 

Floral Prints

I sooo wanted this top to work. It is perfect for spring!!!!! This top was a bit tight on the bust area, but I looooved the print and style. If you have a Shimmer store near you, I recommend it 100%. It is the perfect spring top! You can tell by all the pictures I took that I really liked it :)

Realmente queria que esta blusa funcionara. Es perfecta para la primavera. Sin embargo, me quedo un poco ajustada en el area del busto, pero me encanto el estilo! Si tienes una tienda Shimmer serca de ti y eres un poco (o mucho) mas delgada que yo, te la recomiendo al 100%. Realmente pueden ver, dado a que tome muchas fotos de esta blusa, que realmente me enamoro  :)

Studs

This red top was very pretty, but it did not fit me at all. It was extremely tight :( I loved the style and the material. What attracted me to it was the peplum and studs. :(

Esta blusa roja me encanto pero me quedo super apretada. Sin embargo, si eres mas delgada que yo, se te miraria genial. Lo que me atrajo a ella fue el estilo "peplum" y los "Studs" dorados. :(

Animal Print

I fell in love with this pink animal print top. I forgot to take a picture of the back, but it has black lace, which made the back see-thru. This top fit me perfectly, except in the front area where it opened up (this is a recurrent problem for me in most tops). I'm planning on going back for it. When I do, I plan on just adding a safety pin. Remember: DON'T BE AFRAID TO MAKE MODIFICATIONS. Sometimes, a small change/addition can make a piece work perfectly!

Me encamore de esta blusa rosa de "animal print." Se me olvido tomarle una foto a la parte de atras pero tiene encaje en toda la espalda. Esta blusa me quedo perfecta, excepto por ese detallito de enfrente donde se abre un poco en el area del busto (este es un problema recurrente para mi jeje). Estoy planeando en regresar por ella. Cuando lo haga le pondre un segurito para solucionar ese problemita. Acuerdense que aveces tenemos que hacer pequeñas modificaciones/adiciones para que las prendas funcionen. Que no les de miedo! 

 Awesome Fitted White Jeans

These Jeans are AMAZING! They are by a brand called Wax Jeans, which is sold at Shimmer. I don't know about you, but it is really hard for me to find well-fitted jeans in any color, but especially white. I think I haven't had a pair of white jeans in more than five years. These jeans are super comfortable, stretchy, they mold to your body, and they do not feel cheap. They retail for $23.99. I had to get them. I can't wait to wear them out.

Estos jeans son INCREIBLES! Son de una marca llamada Wax Jeans, la cual es vendida en las tiendas Shimmer. No se ustedes pero es muy difícil para mi encontrar pantalones de cualquier color, pero en especial blancos, que se ajusten perfectamente a mi cuerpo. Creo que no he comprado/usado jeans blancos desde hace mas de cinco años. Estos jeans son súper cómodos, son súper stretch, se amoldan a tus "curvas," y no se sienten baratos. Su precio también me encanto. Solo cuestan $23.99 y por eso los tuve que comprar. Ya quiero usarlos!

✿ Hello, Spring! ✿ The Yellow Plus Size Blazer

Who said plus-size women cannot pull of neon colors? I had been waiting forever to wear this yellow blazer that I purchased a couple of months ago from Torrid. Here, in California, the weather has not warmed up yet, but I just couldn't wait any longer to use those pieces that I have been saving for spring and summer. 

By the way, I realize that I have posted way too many outfits with the Stiletto and the Polka Dot Jeans. I promise they are not the only pants in my closet. I just can't stop wearing them. They are comfortable and super cute. I recommend them 100%. Oh, and that color-block purse from Target is also super cute, spacious, and versatile. If you can still find it, I can assure you that it will be a good buy. Who can go wrong with black and white?

Quien dijo que las chicas gorditas no podemos usar colores neón? Desde hace mucho estaba esperando poder usar este blazer amarillo que compre hace unos meses en Torrid. Aquí en California el clima aun no se ha hecho cálido, pero yo ya no podía esperar mas para empezar a usar esas piezas que tengo designadas para primavera/verano. 

Por cierto, ya se que he subido varios/muchos atuendos con los jeans de Stiletto de Torrid, y también los de lunares. Les prometo que no son los únicos jeans que tengo en mi closet jeje.  Es solo que esos jeans me encantaron. Son cómodos y super lindos. Los recomiendo al 100%. Ah, por cierto, esa bolsa en blanco y negro de Target es otra de mis cosas favoritas. Esta super bonita, me encanta la estructura, esta espaciosa, y es muy versátil. Aun la pueden encontrar en algunas tiendas. La verdad es que con esos colores no hay pierde. El blanco y negro son un clásico!

A Tweed Jacket for a Casual Day

I love my city, but I have to confess that I have not visited many of those places that I loved to go when I was younger. One of my new year's resolution is to post more outfits and make more youtube videos for my english and spanish channel. For that reason, and taking advantage of my vacations from work and school, I decided to visit one of my favorite places; Mt. Soledad Monument located in La Jolla California. This monument commemorates veterans of war and has plaques that name our soldiers. It also has a beautiful cross and amazing views of the city.

For this cold, almost freezing, California day, I decided to wear my new Chanel inspired tweed jacket. I  purchased this one at Lane Bryant for only seventy bucks and I love it! This jacket is comfortable, fashionable, it feels very light and I think it looks good on me. I decided to wear it with my cream colored top, also from Lane Bryant, and a pair of dark jeans from Torrid.  I paired my outfit with gold tone accessories like the bird necklace from Forever 21, which I think is too adorable. I also added a pyramid and spike bracelet also from Forever 21, and I finished off my outfit with a new pair of spiked flats that I got for christmas and a clutch from JcPenny. This outfit is a cross between formal and casual, but I think it looks cute. Remember that we need to take advantage of our clothing pieces. Not because a piece is classy do we need to wear it with heals. We can always dress up or down any piece!

Me encanta mi ciudad pero debo confesar que hace tiempo que no visito varios de los lugares que en mi niñez y juventud me encantaban. Para este año nuevo, uno de mis propósitos es tratar de bloggear mas, así que aproveche que estoy de vacaciones del trabajo y la escuela para ir al Monumento en la Montaña Soledad. Esta montaña esta localizada en San Diego en una de las zonas mas exclusivas; La Jolla. Aquí se encuentra un monumento que conmemora a los veteranos de la guerra. Estando en la cima de la montaña, este lugar cuenta con unas vistas preciosas aunque debo confesar que hace mucho frió. 

Para este día casi congelante me puse este saco de "tweed." No se como se dice en español pero el diccionario dice que es "paño cruzado escocés de lana." El chiste es que este tipo de sacos son muy populares ya que Chanel tiene varios modelos de estos. Aunque claro, no todos queremos, o podemos, gastar mucho dinero para vernos bien. Este saco lo compre en Lane Bryant por solo setenta dólares y me encanta. El saco es cómodo, no me acalora, y creo que me favorece mucho. Lo convine con una blusa color crema, tambien de Lane Bryant, y unos jeans súper casuales y cómodos de la marca Torrid. De accesorios utilice colores dorados, como el collar con pajaritos de Forever 21 que ame y las pulsera de piramide combinada con una de picos negros con dorado. Finalize el atuendo con unos zapatos cafes (casi nudes) que me regalaron en Navidad y un bolso de mano de JcPenny. Este atuendo es un cruze entre formal y casual pero siento que se ve super bien. Recuerden que hay que sacarle provecho a nuestras piezas. No por que algo sea formal lo tenemos que usar solo con zapatillas. Siempre podemos hacer que nuestras piezas luzcan formal o casual y asi sacarles mas provecho.
